Well. More digital painting. This time it is the assassin from Assassins Creed. Basically the coolest game ever even though it's rated M.....oh well. Here it is! 

Edit: it looks really weird after uploading. It looks so much better in reality. I'll reupload and see if it looks any better.

Surrealism

It's kind of a weird idea, but thats what surrealism is so yeah :) I tried to stick with a mainly complementary color scheme. I'm not sure if that was a good idea or not, but here's my painting.

So for my AP art class we drew names out of a hat to make portraits of the other people in the class. So here's the one I made. Simple and pretty cool I think.

Abstract

Well. I'm not sure how I feel about this one. I like it sometimes and don't at others. I used a Lego brick to make the dots and lines.

So here's a small part of a much larger image. I've worked a long time to get him to look like he does, and I'm pretty happy with it. I'll post the rest next week or whenever I finish it. It I a digital painting by the way.

2 point Perspective Cityscape

Alright. So I took a bit of a risk here trying to make the sky interesting while keeping the 2 point perspective. The lights help make the perspective while the rest is a little more interesting than a boring cityscape. I also combined my digital and actual painting a little.

Alright, I'm sticking to my zelda theme this week. Here's Link. I created it using digital painting. Lots of fun and I tried a newish style. I don't know, but I think it looks pretty cool.

Landscape Oil Painting

Well here's my landscape... I'm not totally sure it counts as a landscape but I think it does because it's a picture of the land. Albeit a picture at night with a giant moon crashing on the city, but still a landscape.

Well this is an interesting idea. Take an encyclopedia page and draw what it talks about on the page. So I did Greek religion. Interesting I think.

Painting Improvement

Well. One term down. When I started this class, I was a horrible painter. It's ok if you say so too, I completely agree with you. Hit the jump to see some of them.

Plein Air Painting

So this is my backyard, sort of. I tried to get a lot of the trees and grass texture by using stipple with the big brush. I like how it turned out but it's not amazing. In fact, it's not that great at all.

Sky Painting v2

So, In art we are all about taking risks right? Well here you go, I painted on a guy doing a backflip. He's a little big I think, but hey, it was done without pencil guidelines, so I feel good about that.

While it isn't perfect, I think the blending worked out quite well, I can't paint clouds for the life of me, but you can at least tell that it is a sky.

What a surprise, I drew something from Avatar again. :P this week it's Lin Bei Fong. It turned out ok I think.

Well, I think I've moved from horrible painter, up to bad painter status. Here's the reference I used, then below is the painting. And this time, people could actually tell what/who I had painted.... It's my friend Tyler. 

Weekly Drawing #5

Once again, I was bored during physics. So I started drawing. The only problem is that I don't have the details or features of anything memorized....except Avatar characters. So I end up drawing a lot of Avatar people. So here's Korra just entering the Avatar State.

Pointillism Painting

So, I'm pretty sure I did this wrong, I put the dots on top of each other instead of next to each other. And I also picked a picture with way too much detail I think, because with pointillism you can't do a ton of detail. Anyway, I used a pencil eraser, and the green, red, blue, red, white and yellow paints. So all but the brownish one.

So, I know the face is pretty bad, and I know the fire looks pretty horrible, but here's my next weekly drawing. It's Mako from Avatar. (If you haven't figured it out yet, I'm pretty obsessed with that show.)

Alright. So obviously it's not perfect, but I feel it's decent. If you can't tell what it is, it's a GameCube controller.

So it's Aang....again. I was bored in Physics (not at MHA) so I started this. Pulled it all out of my head, which is strange. Usually I use a reference when drawing. So yeah. Here's number 3

Weekly Drawing #2

My friend was drawing this for our AP art class at my local high school, and I thought it looked cool so I drew it too. I didn't have any of my usual supplies, just a regular mechanical pencil, so it didn't turn out as well as it would have. But that's ok, it still looks alright. :)

Van Gogh Watercolor

Well here is my watercolor. I was able to get the darker colors this time, unlike the last few. I tried to follow Van Goghs style and picked a beachside town in Italy to paint, which seems like something he would paint. And then I tried to do the big swirly brush strokes like he did. It didn't turn out amazing, but I think it's alright!

Digital Painting

So this wasn't for any class, but I figured I'd post something that's actually good on this blog. It's Avatar Aang. The way I made this is by digital painting. There is an app called ProCreate on the iPad, and that's what I used to make this. It wasn't too hard and it was way fun. My reference was from Darkkenjie on Deviantart. So let me know what you think!

Landscape Watercolor

Well, while it is very obvious that I'm not a very good painter, I would say that this one turned out much better than my abstract one. I still don't really know what I'm doing, but I'm learning!
