Create Art! Self Portrait

Once again, I used my digital painting method. It's like my favorite type of art and so here it is. I think it ended up quite nice.

Animal

So this is using a technique called Lino cuts. I'm not entirely sure how to do them but I think this ended up alright. The idea is to make a sort of stencil and ink it down.

Shield Art

I tried something new, using a combination of photography, blender, gimp, and illustrator to create this. And I think it looks pretty cool in the end.

Design art

So we have this little bottle thing from India or wherever that looks pretty neat, so I drew it.

Bug art

So here's my bug. I don't know. I tried to get some type of bark texture but it doesn't look that great. Maybe I should just stop painting.. Haha.

Photo Painting finish

I'm not exactly sure if this looks good or not. It's kind of muddy but I tried to mimic that William Turner's style.  Soooo...yeah..

Photo Drawing start

So here's the start of it. Just the drawing with minimal paint so far.
And here's the link to the reference I'm using: http://zeldawiki.org/images/thumb/6/60/Bridge_of_Eldin.jpg/250px-Bridge_of_Eldin.jpg

Landscape

Just a simple landscape. It was fun to paint in the mountains, or try to.

Color wheel

Here's my color wheel. Not much to say, just splotches of color.

2 Color Abstract

So the colors I got are brown and yellow. So here we go. Just kinda made some swirly abstract things.  I'd forgotten how fun painting is, even though I suck at it.

Self portrait

I really like Avatar the Last Airbender so I created my portrait as me as a character from it. So yeah. Digitally painted.

Computer Abstract

So the thing with computer art: color is free. You don't have to do anything special to get more color, so it's a lot of fun to use. I don't really know what was going on here, just colorful life, then the black shape thing.

Clay man #2

ÏSo some little kids came playing downstairs and knocked him over and he fell all apart. So I put him back together but he is so delicate I was scared to try to work with him much further. So I smoothed out him and added a little bit, but it's not much different than the starting one.

My clay man

I'm not all that good with clay, and he kinda looks like a scarecrow....so yeah.

LAUNDRY!!

So we drew laundry to practice shading and ish. Mine doesn't look fantastic, but c'mon, it's a pile of laundry. :P

Final figure drawing

Did this one on my ipad. I'm not entirely sure everything is perfectly matching, but I think it's not bad.

Figure drawings

So here they are. Kinda fun to draw. 2-3 minutes each.

Clay stuff

Well. Here are all of my clay shapes and creations. I don't really have any idea how to use clay, but it was fun to play around with it.

Left hand drawing

I don't think it turned out half bad. Obviously it's not that great but at least it's identifiable. :P

3-point Cityscape

So here we go. I think it looks pretty cool without color too so I'll post that as well. It's supposed to be at like sunset or something, but I don't know if you can tell. Ha. Anyway here you go.

Imagination

I may have posted this already, but I did pull it from my imagination so yeah.

2 point perspective

This one isn't great either...but i got the 2 points in.

Monday, March 17, 2014

One point perspective

Here it is. I kind of took a unique look at this one point perspective thing I think. Naturally it's not perfect. It was really hard to draw all the windows.

Artwork around house

Well...I have this Zelda poster in my room..so yea. I kinda went for the sketchy kind of look. I don't know if I like how it turned out, but here it is.

Fruit

So I drew my fruit. It's a pineapple. I never see anybody drawing pineapples so I figured I would. It was kind of hard to make it look all rough on the body, I don't think it ended up very well. But here it is.

Earth Art

So I know this is basically crap, but it was freezing and basically snowing outside, in my defense. Also, my yard is completely void of everything to do art with. Anyway, I saw lots of earth art that was flat, so I wanted to make something more 3d and out of the ground. It's kind of like a teepee with some leaves coming out the top, and a triangle on the front....so yeah. We can just forget about this one soon.

Memory Artwork

So for this assignment, I spent a lot of time hiking in southern Utah during my childhood. Still do, in fact. Just not as often. Anyway, I loved slot canyons the best, so I made this artwork. It's interesting, I was trying to think of some weird media to do, when Mr. W said try combining 2. So I did. I drew the slot canyon on just normal paper, scanned it into the computer, raised the contrast of the drawing, layered it with color dodge layer mode at 50% opacity with the photograph. So here is the final result. I think it looks pretty cool.

And heres the reflection mindflow paper thing: https://docs.google.com/a/mountainheightsacademy.org/document/d/1Fihx2dU0wUSMnK0d3bLrt1f7uFbpPHf0G-ugaMJpmaA/edit?usp=sharing

Logo

So I like to make logos a lot. I've never really had one I'm super happy with for my name so I tried yet again. This one is alright. The M is kind of like a paintbrush to add in the art for me. So this is v1, then I realized it would be really easy to make some negative space for the A.

kind of like this:

So yeah. There's my name in a swirly logo thingy. Yeah. It's kind of cool I think.

Tv art

So I tried to do this as fast and accurately as possible, just for a challenge. I didn't sketch out any guide lines or anything, just went from a blank page to finished lines. So yeah. I know this isn't perfect but I've got some great stuff I've been working on. Stay tuned.

Fullmetal Alchemist Grid Art

Grid art isn't my favorite. This project, however, was a blast. I hooked my laptop up to the tv via hdmi cable and pulled out my old drawing tablet and drew this. It was interesting to try out. I may try to color in the drawing, but it is easier said than done.

Map

I didn't particularly enjoy this assignment. :P sorry Mr. W. But here's my map.

Hand drawings

So in my ap art class there is a running joke about how hard it is to draw hands. Nobody likes it. So I was kinda nervous for this but figured it's just good practice right? Anyway here's my hands.....

Collage

My collage. I seriously had a hard time finding a magazine and then finding any colors in it. I was basically out of green by the end.

Tree

Made this digitally on my ipad. It's not amazing but it looks alright I think.

Drawing of Art

So this is from Fullmetal Alchemist. It's Pride the Homonculus and Edward Elric. I used charcoal for the black and then pastel chalk for the red and yellow. It was way hard to keep it all from smearing but I think it turned out ok!

Final #2 and #3

Aright here we go. They aren't perfect but I'm mildly pleased with them. So here they are. The demon is Ganon and the imp with the helmet/mask is Midna. Both from Zelda. I tried to never use any color straight out of the tube, but I don't know if I managed to totally do that.

Final #1

I know it's not that great, but I tried to use everything we've learned about mixing colors and making a good painting. But it didn't turn out amazing.

Interests Research

I have done several different posts of the interests drawings. I’ve done mostly digital art for my interest drawings. I really enjoy it and so I figure I’ll do something I enjoy if I have to draw and am given free reign. I haven’t necessarily researched much, unless you count watching Avatar and playing Zelda as research. (If so, best research project ever.) I have watched a few videos on how to digital paint though, it is pretty different than normal painting, or any other style of art, really. I often went over the 30 minutes, because if I’m going to create art, I’m going to make it look good, no matter how long it’s going to take. I’d rather take more time to create something awesome than take shorter time and leave it less cool.

My interests haven’t changed all that much. But I used to be way into superheroes and stuff at the beginning of the year, but I’m not all that interested in them anymore. Also, since the Legend of Korra season 2 ended, my fire for Avatar has kind of dissipated, but not much. (Nerd alert)I got (and beat) the new Zelda game and Pokemon game, so I’m a little more interested in them at the moment. And my friend showed me this new anime series called Fullmetal Alchemist that I have probably spent too much time watching….So maybe my interests have changed a bit.

It’s kind of tough to tell whether our interests choose us or if we choose them. On one hand, we like things because they appeal to us, but on the other, we wouldn’t like them if they weren’t interesting. You catch my drift? So it’s difficult to determine whether we choose interests or if they choose us.
